Safflower Cultivation Field Day: Introducing ISF-764 Variety

A highly successful field day on safflower cultivation was held in Rejintal Village, Nyalkal Mandal, Zaheerabad. DDS Krishi Vigyan Kendra introduced the rabi safflower variety ISF-764, known for its 30% oil content and 8-10 quintals yield, during cluster front-line demonstrations.

A field day was organized by DDS-KVK in Rejinthal village of Nyalkal mandal in the safflower crop. As part of this program, DDS-KVK Senior Scientist & Head Dr, C. Vara Prasad said that the main purpose of this KKV is to provide good varieties to the farmers in this district and to achieve good yields. V. Ramesh, SMS (Agronomy) speaking as part of cluster front line demonstration on safflower this year, IFS-764 seeds released from Oilseeds Research Institute of India for Rabi season were given to the farmers and the package of practices were explained to the farmers so that the farmers followed them and got good yields i.e. 8-10 quintals. Therefore, he asked the farmers around you to see this variety and make sure that they also get good yields. As part of this programme, G. Shailaja, scientist (horticulture department) spoke and explained about the horticultural crops grown in summer. Zaheerabad Assistant Director of Agriculture (ADA) B. Bikshapati, who was the chief guest, said that our Sangareddy district has more suitable months and climate for safflower crop compared to other districts, so the farmers who come here will know more about this safflower IFS-764 variety in the next season. It was explained to the farmers that they should cultivate in a large area and get good yields and also that eating safflower oil will not lead to heart related diseases. In this program, farmers Gopalar Reddy, Venkat and Tirupati Reddy explained to the fellow farmers the details of how they cultivated the safflower crop. In this program, KVK scientists Sai Priyanka, Kailash, soil testing experts E. Swamy, Jagan and AEO Sanath, Bityam, Charan,and 52 other farmers participated.
